Kurt Tippett could be in line for a return to the senior side as the Swans look to bolster their ruck stocks ahead of next Friday night’s clash against Geelong.
Both Sam Naismith and Callum Sinclair left the field due to injury during Friday night’s loss to Hawthorn.
Tippett had the weekend off as the club’s NEAFL side had a bye but starred with five goals in last week’s big win over the NT Thunder at the SCG.
Longmire is confident Tippett still has a role to play in the senior side this season.
“When he (Tippett) plays well and we think he has a role for us in the team he will be absolutely considered,” Longmire told SEN Radio on Saturday morning.
“He didn’t get a chance to play this weekend but he trained really well on Friday.
“Obviously Callum played really well the week before but we need players to keep playing well and being consistent.”
Naimith and Sinclair were just two injuries from what was a horror night for the Swans on the injury front.
Jake Lloyd (hip) and Gary Rohan (back spasms) were late withdrawals from the side while Josh Kennedy played hindered in the second half with a tight hamstring.
“Josh’s hamstring got pretty sore in the second half.”
“He finished the game off but clearly wasn’t 100% fit in that second half so we will have to see how he pulls up this week.”
“Jake hurt his groin in the last training drill during the week and we wanted to give him until the last minute but unfortunately he couldn’t get up.
“These things happen some times and you just have to adjust and make the most of it.”
