Underlining the commentary surrounding home finals and where or when they'll be played is the fact that the Sydney Swans still have a job to do.
That's defeating Richmond on Saturday at the SCG.
Despite sitting on top of the ladder with only one round to go in the regular season, Sydney isn't guaranteed a home final by any stretch due to being equal on points (64) with three other clubs.
A loss to the Tigers this weekend could see the Swans drop as low as sixth, meaning not only is a welcomed home final in jeopardy but they could also miss out on the all-important double chance.
Only one win behind the Sydney Swans, Adelaide, Geelong and Hawthorn sit GWS, West Coast and Western Bulldogs.
Before joining the conversation of finals, senior coach John Longmire and captain Kieren Jack were remaining solely and squarely focused on Richmond.
"It's pleasing our destiny is in our own hands," Jack said at Tuesday's Qatar Airways sponsorship announcement.
"If we win this week, we probably do stay on top of the ladder so that's a great achievement but we've got to get over the line.
"Richmond has been a bit of a bogey side in recent times so we've got the challenge ahead of us."
Sydney has lost the past three games against Richmond, the most recent of those coming in Round 8 earlier this season when Sam Lloyd kicked a goal after the final siren to clinch a one-point thriller.
The loss has left a bitter taste in Jack's mouth ever since with the co-captain keen to write some wrongs this weekend.
"We lost the game so it certainly hurt," he said.
"We didn't play to the level that we wanted so we think we need to get one back on them."
One of the reasons for the loss was a breakdown in team structures during the dying few minutes of the match at the MCG, according to Longmire.
He believed a four-quarter effort this time around will go a long way to the Swans finishing the season on the right note.
"What happened was we didn't get the last two minutes of the game right," he said.
"Traditionally, we'd like to put the game out of that position earlier.
"Richmond to their credit played really well and I'm sure they'll be tough this week but we need to make sure we play the four quarters a bit better than what we did last time."
Longmire is expected to get Jack back after the co-captain missed last weekend's win in Hobart with a foot injury suffered at training in the lead up to selection.
Jack trained on Tuesday and will need to "tick a few boxes" later in the week to prove his fitness but the 205-gamer is confident he'll be right to play.
