The Sydney Swans are proud to announce the club has extended its partnership with GambleAware and the Reclaim the Game initiative.

The first year of the partnership proved a great success, as the two parties worked together to tackle the normalisation of sports betting and raise awareness of the risks of gambling.

Sydney Swans CEO Tom Harley said the club will continue working with GambleAware to provide education to staff, players and fans.

“We’re really pleased to extend our partnership with GambleAware and their Reclaim the Game initiative,” Harley said.

“This authentic partnership is aligned with the club’s strong focus to contribute positively as a community leader. Raising awareness about the risks of betting is incredibly important, and we will continue to reinforce key messages as part of this.

“As a sporting club, and an organisation that has a lot of young men and women, we believe it’s important we don’t rely on revenue generated from betting companies. Therefore, we will continue to abstain from promoting betting advertising or sponsorship.”

Natalie Wright, Director of the Office of Responsible Gambling, said she’s thrilled the Sydney Swans will continue to promote such an important initiative.

“Our partnership last year was extremely successful as Sydney Swans fans and their community got behind the Reclaim the Game initiative. We’re excited to be working again with the Swans for the 2022 season. We’ll continue to encourage fans to reclaim the game by enjoying AFL without betting,” Wright said.
