Nic Newman had an outstanding season at NEAFL level to push his claims for a promotion to the senior list for the next two seasons.
He was one of the best performers in the NEAFL this year averaging 27.8 disposals across half back and fittingly earning a spot in the league's coveted Team of the Year.
After impressing during two pre-season matches for the Swans he failed to gain his senior debut but has moved one step closer with a position on the senior list in 2017.
The 23-year-old was also reqarded for his strong season by being offered a two year contract extension to remain at the Club until at least the end of the 2018 season.
Newman was a standout in the NEAFL Grand Final and was presented with the Andrew Ireland Medal as the player judged best-on-ground, bittersweet reward in the heartbreaking loss to GWS.
In his own words
“I had a pretty good year in the NEAFL. Obviously it was disappointing not to play any senior games but as a whole I think I improved on a lot of things. I took a big step forward and will be looking to play some senior football next year." Nic Newman on SwansTV
