Star midfielder Josh Kennedy believes an even contribution across the side will be paramount as the Sydney Swans prepare to tackle the 2017 season.
Kennedy led the Swans dynamic midfield brigade during the 2016 season alongside Dan Hannebery, Luke Parker and Kieren Jack.
During the 2016 finals series Isaac Heeney played more time through the midfield in what could be a sign of what is to come next season.
Kennedy said it was important that they continued to find players that could step up to play midfield time.
“On the whole there were a lot of positives, and I felt like we had a lot of players playing to a really high standard,” Kennedy said.
“We managed to share the load really well which is part of the reason we have been such a good team this year.
“On a personal level without giving it too much thought I have had a really good and consistent year.”
“It’s hard to separate the year in itself from the losing Grand Final.”
Kennedy was the Swans best player during the Grand Final finishing runner up in the Norm Smith medal voting.
The 28-year-old said his side knew the challenge it faced to try and return to playing in the final game of the season in 2017.
“The hopes and dreams are to go one better next year but it is a long and tough road to give yourself an opportunity so that will be the focus next year,”
“Once we get there it is then about trying to make the most of the opportunity to not let it slip like we did this year.”
