Sydney Swans co-captain Luke Parker has been awarded his fourth Brett Kirk Medal after an inspiring performance in Sydney Derby XXIII.
Parker produced a best-on-ground display with 21 disposals and five goals, and five tackles to ignite the Swans to a 20-point victory in our season opener against GWS.
"For me it was Round 1 and the boys wanted to put on an incredible effort and I just wanted to be part of it," Parker said.
"You want to stand up in big games and tonight (was that).
"To start off the way we did, we had our pressure up and down and it was a hot game early. It was a game of momentum and to help swings things feels nice."
Parker has now become the first player to win four Brett Kirk Medals, overtaking Lance Franklin and Kieran Jack who have three each.
Votes as follows:
9 - Parker
5- Green
2- Florent
2- Heeney
The only man to win the Brett Kirk medal 4 times.
