Angus Anderson celebrates a goal for the QBE Sydney Swans Academy.

Seven QBE Sydney Swans Academy athletes have been named in the 2022 Allies squad for the U18 National Championships.

UNSW-Bulldogs trio Toby Alker, Jordan Endemann, Indhi Kirk, Pennant Hills’ Christian Webster,  Sawtell Saints’ Angus Anderson, Sydney Uni’s Caiden Cleary and Manly’s Will Edwards make up the QBE Academy contingent selected for Allies representation.

A total of 46 players have been named in the squad, comprising players from the Northern Territory, NSW, ACT, Queensland and Tasmania. The full squad can be found at the bottom of this page.

Head of the QBE Sydney Swans Academy Chris Smith said he was pleased that several of his players have been given this opportunity but said it's now about going to the next level.

"It's one thing to be given an opportunity but the next thing is about taking it and making the most of it," Smith said.

"I am sure these boys will be putting their head down over the next few weeks to give themselves the best opportunity to perform at the level expected. It's going to require some hard work and sacrifices."

Smith also said that there are some boys who would be disappointed at missing selection but as an Academy group they will continue to put in the work.

"As an Academy, we've still got work to do and with Allies selection there is always some boys who are disappointed but we will continue to work with them in getting them to the required level."

The squad will assemble in Sydney for a training camp at Tom Wills Oval on Saturday June 11, before playing a North vs South match on Sunday June 12.

The Allies will then compete at the National Championships which will be played across the country mostly throughout June and July.

The NAB AFL National Championships are the highest level of state and territory representative football, as part of the AFL’s Talent Pathway Program. The competition will feature the most talented boys from across Australia who are the next generation of stars in the men’s game.

Final squads for all teams will be announced in the lead up to the 2022 NAB AFL National Championships – Boys U18. Live streaming and broadcast details will be confirmed closer to the Championships.
