It proved all too difficult for the coaches to pluck a single Swan out of a cast of dominate Hawks on Saturday night and award them with votes as part of this year’s AFL Coaches Association Champion Player of the Year Award.
Cyril Rioli, for his 20 possessions and three goal performance, was given nine votes as best afield in the Hawks’ 89-point win at ANZ Stadium.
In favour of the likes of Jack Gunston (six votes) and Jarryd Roughead (five votes), Swans midfielders Dan Hannebery and Josh Kennedy were overlooked despite collecting 32 and 30 disposals respectively.
Hannebery remains 25 votes behind overall leader Nat Fyfe who failed to poll in Fremantle’s win over Carlton, something of a rare occurrence in 2015.
Kennedy (49 votes) is also hanging on inside the top 10 as the Swans next best chance to take out this year’s prestigious award.
