Last week, the SCG was a festival of Pride as the Sydney Swans celebrated Pride Game at the SCG, in what was the seventh Pride Game between the two sides.
The game was established between the two sides in 2016 to celebrate diversity and inclusion, and ensure everyone feels welcome at the football. The match provided an opportunity to listen, learn and highlight stories from the LGBTIQA+ community.
It was the first time our players ran out in the pride guernsey in front of a home crowd, while HBSC, the Official Pride Game Partner of the Sydney Swans, brought a host of colourful activities to the match, including a unique statue, featuring a pair of vacant football boots, encouraging match-goers to take a powerful step forward and Stand for Pride by celebrating diversity and inclusion in the football community.
This weekend, the Newtown Breakaways will hold their Pride Game at Henson Park (Saturday, July 2, 2022) and the Swans will have an information marquee, a digital spin to win and membership presence on the day.
Sydney Swans members and fans are encouraged to visit and show their support. Click here for more information on the event.
The Newtown Breakaways Pride Game will be just one of the activities this upcoming weekend, with AFLW coaches Scott Gowans and Bronwyn Gulden also attending the Newtown Breakaways Fundraising Lunch on Friday July 1, 2022 at the Henson Hotel
