Six Sydney Swans youngsters have been selected in the AFL Players’ Association 22Under22 squad, the most from any club
The AFLPA’s 22Under22 squad for 2022 has been named with six Sydney Swans youngsters leading the way in the 40-player squad selected.
The Swans have six representatives with Nick Blakey, Errol Gulden, Tom McCartin, Justin McInerney, James Rowbottom and Chad Warner selected.
In a sign of the talented youngsters in the red and white, the Swans have the most players selected in the squad from any team.
Gulden, Rowbottom and McInerney have all been previously selected in the 40-man squad but are looking for their first team sceelction.
Players must have featured in a minimum of 11 matches for the year, with consistency of performance then rewarded.
The concept was introduced in 2013 to reward the young players who make an impact on their club and the competition so early in their careers.
The final team will be decided by fans, with voting open for a week on the 22Under22 site from Wednesday, August 10 and closing on August 17. We encourage all Swans members and fans to cast their vote today.
The final team will be announced on August 23 via the AFL Players’ Association’s social media channels. If your team matches the final fan-voted #22Under22, you could WIN an AFL #22Under22 guernsey signed by the Captain and Vice-Captain, PLUS your choice of prizes thanks to Snaffle.
