DUAL Brownlow Medallist Adam Goodes considers his and Sydney Swans teammate Craig Bolton's selection in this year's All Australian side a terrific reward for the club.
While conceding the Swans' season was a frustrating one – they finished 12th to miss the finals for the first time since 2002 – Goodes said having two members in the team of the year was an off-season victory.
"For Craig and myself to represent the club last night – we didn't know what was going to happen – and for both of us to make the team was fantastic," he said on Tuesday.
"Our players up there have really had an indifferent year and a lot of inconsistencies and for myself and Craig to represent the club as two All Australians is a fantastic thing.
"I know all of the players do hold those individual awards as a team-based award as well, because without them it's very hard to win anything."
Goodes was named All Australian for the third term on Monday night, with his other two inclusions coming in his Brownlow Medal years – 2003 and 2006.
The veteran is again right in the mix for this year's Brownlow, following an outstanding year shared between the forward line and the midfield.
In the last two seasons he has racked up 20 and 21 Brownlow votes respectively and is expected to claim similar numbers this year.
