Fans will have their chance to thank retired Sydney Swans champion Jude Bolton for his extraordinary contribution to the club this Sunday afternoon at the SCG.

Bolton, who played 325 games for the Swans, including two premierships, will complete a lap of honour ahead of the club’s round four clash with North Melbourne in the first game back at the redeveloped SCG.

Bolton, who played his final game in last year’s preliminary final loss to Fremantle in Perth, said he felt honour to be offered the opportunity this weekend.

“It’s an extreme honour and was one I didn’t expect at all,” Bolton told sydneyswans.com.au.

“The club approached me a while ago and said they’d like to do something like this, so I just feel honoured to have this opportunity.

“I’m extremely chuffed to be able go around the SCG again and hopefully it doesn’t rain on me.

“Hopefully there is a big crowd because I just want to see a big crowd for the boys especially after their big win over in Adelaide.”

Since hanging up his boots at the end of last season, Bolton has taken on several roles, including television and radio commentary and working as an accredited player agent.

While he admits that he didn’t miss the early morning training sessions over the pre-season, Bolton said it was an unusual feeling to no longer run out with his team mates each week.

“It’s been different,” he said.

“Obviously I’d still love to be out competing with the guys on the weekend and it’s been interesting sitting back and watching.

“Travelling with the guys is something I definitely miss, but I still get to see them a fair bit and hopefully I get to do a bit of boundary riding and I get to run out onto the ground after a few wins.”

Bolton will begin his lap of honour at 12:40pm, ahead of the Swans game against North Melbourne at 1:10pm. Fans will be able to collect a ‘Thank Jude’ banner from the Staples Fan Stand located on Driver Avenue.

For those wanting their early Sunday morning football fix, the next generation of Swans will be in action when the reserves take on Queanbeyan from 9.30am in NEAFL round three action at Blacktown Olympic Park No.2 Oval.
