Sydney Swans trio Jesse White, Jarred Moore and Mitch Morton have all been named on the ground in the NEAFL Eastern Conference Team of the Year which was announced at last night’s Mulrooney Medal count in Canberra.

Despite starting the year in the forward line, White was named in the ruck for the Team of the Year after an outstanding second half of the year that has often seen him go into games as the Swans only ruck option.

Moore followed up his stellar form from last season which saw him win the 2011 Mulrooney Medal with another quality, consistent year. Moore was named in the centre of the Team of the Year, and going into the last round of voting in the Mulrooney Medal count had a shot of winning again. However, the Swans’ number 33 didn’t poll a vote in the last round win over the Brisbane Lions, as Belconnen forward Shane Harris polled two votes to take home the medal.

Morton was named in the forward pocket of the Team of the Year, and also took out the Eastern Conference Goalkicking Award after registering 77 goals for the season.

The Sydney Swans reserves will have an extra training session this weekend as they prepare for September 16’s Eastern Conference Grand Final against the winner of this Saturday’s Preliminary Final between Queanbeyan and Eastlake.
