The QBE Sydney Swans U16 Academy side have wrapped up their season with a gritty 4-point win over the GIANTS at Blacktown on Friday afternoon.
Backing up from their game on the road against the Gold Coast on Tuesday, the team looked forward to another tough contest against GWS.
After a slow start and conceding the first three goals of the game, the team settled, winning the ball around the stoppages and scoring through plenty of forward pressure.
The team were solid in defence and their work rate was high in the second half and that combined with some great composure in the last quarter, where they held onto their lead, gave the girls a hard fought win.
Following on from her strong performance on the Gold Coast earlier in the week, Kiera Yerbury once again impressed as did Lucinda Watson in the middle as did the two talls of the team - Maddy Quinn and Lucy Finn.
Yerbury, a St Ives product, was awarded team MVP for her efforts.
The win wrapped up the matches for the U16 team this season with coach Bron Gulden applauding the efforts of the the entire squad who she said showed great dedication and commitment to the QBE Academy program.
