The QBE Sydney Swans Academy is looking for the next crop of football talent for their 2013 intake.
The Academy Athlete Assessment Day is coming up on Friday July 13 for boys aged 10-12 who have the passion and desire to be an elite athlete.
Participants will be assessed by Swans Academy Head Coach Paul Roos and senior Academy staff across a range of activities, which will test ball skills as well as balance and co-ordination.
Swans Talent ID and Operations manager Chris Smith said the Academy Assessment Day is not only targeting boys with experience playing Australian Rules football.
“It’s open to all boys from alternative sports,” he said.
“The trials aren’t AFL specific, so it’s a wonderful opportunity for the boys to showcase their skills.
“We are after boys who have good hand-eye coordination and balance, as well as just a general love for sport.”
Smith said the Assessment Day will be the first of series of trials for Academy hopefuls.
“These boys will be trialling to become part of our 2013 intake and this is the first step,” he said.
“The boys who are successful in this trial will go onto the final phase assessments later in the year.”
The Assessment Day will be held at Lakeside Oval, Moore Park on Friday July 13.
Whilst the Assessment Day is open to all 10-12yrs olds, Swans Academy placements can only be offered to those who reside within the Sydney Swans Academy Zone - for a list of eligible zones, please see the Swans Academy Zoning Map.
Registrations are open for boys born in 2000, 2001 and 2002, and all interested participants must register if they wish to attend. Click here to register for the Athlete Assessment Day.
Registrations close on Friday July 6 at 5pm.
