VFL head coach Damian Truslove has praised the performances of Corey Warner, Angus Sheldrick and Lachlan McAndrew so far in the 2023 VFL Season.

Speaking to Swans TV as part of an exclusive Premiership Club update, Truslove says the trio have been standouts amid a growing injury list that has impacted both the AFL and VFL playing squads this year.

“From an AFL list point-of-view Corey Warner stands out. He consistently runs hard between contests, finds the ball and has a fantastic attitude," Truslove said.

"Angus Sheldrick is hard and tough and he handles being heavily tagged really well."

Warner made his AFL debut in Round 5, impressing with a goal and eight disposals en route to a 44-point victory over the Tigers.

Meanwhile, Sheldrick made a return to the red and white in Sydney Derby XXV - rewarded for his standout performance in VFL Round 5, which saw him amass 39 disposals, seven tackles and two goals.

As for Lachlan McAndrew – a towering 209cm ruck – Truslove said his game has 'gone to another level'. The 22-year-old is averaging 30 hitouts and 12 disposals for the VFL.

“He’s one of the more dominant rucks in terms of hit outs in the competition,” Truslove added.

McAndrew is yet to debut but featured heavily in the squad’s preseason matches against the Brisbane Lions and Carlton.

The VFL team will be looking to record their first win of the season when they face Frankston in Round 7.
