The final teams have been confirmed for Sunday’s match between Australia Under 18 and the Under 23 All-Stars at Marvel Stadium, with QBE Sydney Swans Academy duo Olivia Morris and Marnie Robinson earning selection.

Sydney Swans AFLW assistant coach  Tanya Hetherington will serve as head coach of the All-Stars, and will be assisted by forward Aliesha Newman.

The match will see the 2023 AFL Academy Girls represent Australia in a clash against an All-Stars squad comprising players from Victoria, Northern Territory and Tasmania who compete in the Coates Talent League and rebel VFLW.

The All-Stars squad was selected from nominations supplied by all Victorian AFLW clubs.

Sunday’s match will be played as a curtain-raiser to the Round 14 AFL match between North Melbourne and Western Bulldogs. The first bounce will take place at 1:45pm AEST.

The match will consist of four 20-minute quarters, with no time on.

The AFL Academy Girls features a selection of the country’s most talented draft-age footballers. All players in the Academy were aged 17 as of January 1, 2023 and will be eligible for the next AFLW Draft, following the 2023 AFLW season.

The AFL Academy Girls program is designed to prepare talented young players for entry into elite football programs.

Players will take part in their third and final camp of the 2023 program in Melbourne this week, commencing Friday.

AFL National Academy Manager, Tarkyn Lockyer, said: “We are excited to see the future stars of our game showcase their talent at Marvel Stadium.

“For the players in the AFL Academy Girls program it will be a significant honour to wear the Australia jumper and represent their country.

“The match also provides a great opportunity for those representing the All-Stars team, who have been nominated to play by AFLW clubs after impressing in the Coates Talent League and at State League level this season.”

HOW TO WATCH: The match will be available to watch live and free at womens.afl and the AFL Women's app.

TICKETING: An AFL ticket for the North Melbourne vs Western Bulldogs game is required to be purchased to attend the Australia U18 vs U23 All-Stars match. Entry will be via Gates 2 and 3. Gates open at 1:30pm.
