Sydney Swans senior assistant coach Stuart Dew has been impressed by the motivation among the development group upon their return to pre-season training.
The first to fourth year players are currently into their second week of pre-season training ahead of the return of their senior teammates next Monday.
Dew said it was pleasing to see the condition in which the playing group had returned from their off-season break.
“They have been really motivated which is all that we can ask at this time of year,” Dew said.
“We have been blessed with some good weather so they have been working hard.
“There was a motivated group of young guys that got together in their break and did a fair bit together.”
Jordan Foote, Jordan Dawson and Zak Jones have been among the standouts over the first fortnight of training.
Dew said it was important to ensure that the young players can test their skills under fatigue during this pre-season training block.
“You have to try and fatigue them at this time of year so we are trying to do a good mix of running and ball work,” he said.
“Jordan Foote won the time trial and we expect him to have a really good pre-season.”
