You may be across Lance Franklin's retirement, but did you know we named two AFLW co-captains this week? The Sydney Derby is mere days away and two start players have been sidelined due to injury.
There's plenty to unpack this week so catch up on all the details in this week's Red and White News, presented by Channel 7.
Lance Franklin retires
Sydney Swans star and champion of the game Lance Franklin called time on this career this week, announcing his retirement, effective immediately.
His decision to hang up the boots comes after 354 games over 19 season at the highest level.
He will leave the game as a dual premiership player, eight-time All Australian, four-time Coleman Medallist, and will finish 4th overall on the all-time goal kicking list with 1066 career goals.
Senior coach John Longmire paid tribute to Franklin in a press conference on Monday, saying he was a privilege to coach.
“He is an absolute freak of nature and we have been lucky enough to have front row seats to one of the best ever to play,” Longmire said.
