Thousands of school kids across the Harbour City were buzzing with excitement as the Sydney Swans stopped by for a visit on Monday.

The 2019 edition of the annual School Blitz saw the Swans run footy clinics, attend assemblies, greet classes, sign merchandise and have photos taken with students.

Young Swan Colin O’Riordan, who last year made his AFL debut, says it’s a huge focus of the club to connect with the community.

“It’s massively important to spread your wings and grow the game, especially in NSW,” O’Riordan told Swans Media.

“Seeing all the kids happy and excited to see us gave us a lot of joy as well, but to be able to grow the game and spread the message throughout Sydney was a great honour.”

The players, along with AFL NSW/ACT development staff, encouraged kids to get involved in footy by registering with their local club or Auskick centre.

Registration is now open for season 2019, so head to play.afl to find out more about your local club today.
