There were plenty of highs and lows in Season 2017. We have picked out some memorable moments from this season with the best pics from AFL photos.
Victory!
It was a tough first 6 weeks but there was plenty of 'cheer' in the rooms after our Round 7 win against the Lions to kick start our season. It was was the first victory for youngsters Ollie Florent, Will Hayward and Lewis Melican who were given the token Gatorade shower.
Sydney Derbies
The rivilarly continues to build with cross town rival GWS and 2017 saw one-win-apiece with the Giants getting the better of the Swans in their Round 5 clash at the SCG but the Swans turning the tables in Round 17 with a crucial win at Spotless Stadium, Buddy bending it as only he can, booting an incredible set shot from the boundary to seal it in the final quarter.
Marn Grook
Marn Grook at the SCG was once again a special game on the Sydney Swans calendar, the match honouring the Indigenous roots of Australian football and recognising the valuable contribution of Indigenous players to the game. It was rivlas Hawthorn who took home the Marn Grook trophy however after a 6-point win.
Our Warriors
All the boys put their bodies on the line week after week but there were a few who wore a few more battle scars than others throughout the season.
Never say die
Going ino the game against the in-form Tigers at the MCG at 4-7, it was another crucial game for the Swans if they were any chance of making finals. Down by 36-points at one point, the Swans dug deep to produce a memorable come from behind win to keep their season alive.
Buddy Brilliant
How lucky are we to watch Lance Franklin go about his business each week? He was at his best this season with some amazing goals, highlighted by his Round 22 Goal of the Year nomination against the Crows. An incredible 10-goal haul against the Blues saw him win the Coleman Medal, kicking 69 goals for the season.
Game of the season?
Down by 22-points with just 4 minutes to go, the Swans produced an incredible comeback at the SCG to win the game after the siren and make their way into the top 8. The commentary sounds of Bruce McAvaney "Mark, mark, mark... Rohan" will echoe for a long time as Gary Rohan took a mark on the line with seconds remaining and kicked the goal to send the SCG into pandemonium.
Proudly Sydney
The Club hosted the Round 18 Pride Game at the SCG, with the message that everyone is welcome at the football. The Swans recorded a comprehensive 42-point win with Callum Sinclair booting a career high five goals.
Milestones
There were plenty of milestones this season, highlighted by Jarrod McVeigh's 300th in the semi-final. Skipper Josh Kennedy and Lance Franklin celebrated reaching 250 games whilst Dane Rampe (150), Sam Reid (100), Zak Jones (50) and Isaac Heeney (50) also had milestone matches.
Finals
The Swans became the first team ever to reach the finals after losing the first 6 games. Week 1 saw a dominant, 65-point win Elimination Final win over the Bombers in front of a record SCG crowd but the season ended the week after in the semi-final against the Cats at the MCG.
