Assistant coach Tanya Hetherington is confident in her side ahead of a Round 9 clash with Collingwood. Speaking in the latest instalment of Tanya's Take, presented by Bird in Hand, she said a four-quarter effort will be needed to defeat the Pies.
See what she had to say on our 57-point win over the Western Bulldogs, Sofia Hurley and preparations leading into another match below.
A massive win over the Bulldogs last week. What was the key factor in such a successful win?
The week before we really let ourselves down with our effort and intensity and the girls were challenged to bring that against the bulldogs which really set up the win.
There were nine goal scorers on the weekend (the most in AFLW history is 11). What do you believe led to this?
We had addressed a couple of elements to our ball movement during the week which made us a lot more dynamic and dangerous forward of centre. Therefore it gave the team multiple avenues to goal which stood out with nine individual goal kickers which is fantastic to see!
Sofia Hurley received a Rising Star nomination for her efforts. What stood out to you about her performance in Round 8?
Sofia has been building nicely every week this season and credit to her, she has played any role she’s been asked so far but she found her niche in the midfield whilst also impacting forward with her pressure being a key feature of her game.
Collingwood is set to be a massive clash. What have you made of the Pies’ season so far?
The Pies have found some form over the last month and have been building like us. Which sets up for an exciting match up this week.
What will the Swans need to do to beat this side?
Kick more goals than them!
Coming off our first ever four-quarter performance in our history, we will be looking to back that up this week and let the result take care of itself.
