Dual All Australian ruckman Brodie Grundy has touched down in Sydney primed and ready to attack the pre-season in the red and white.

“I’m excited … for me personally to come here and play a really meaningful role for the side on the field,” Grundy said.

“I’m still relatively young and really looking forward to a fresh start.

Grundy, who signed with the Swans in the off season, has played 194 AFL games for Collingwood and Melbourne over a 10-year career at the highest level.

The 203cm ruckman is ‘absolutely rapt’ to have landed in the Harbour City with the Swans and is looking forward to taking on a leadership role with the young group.

“It feels great, shooting for the first time in Sydney Swans colours, I’m absolutely rapt,” Grundy said.

“We landed and came into the club, had a training session with some of the lads and really loving it so far.”

Not due back officially until next Monday, Grundy took the track at Moore Park and was joined by fellow new recruits James Jordon, Taylor Adams and Joel Hamling.

Grundy only arrived in Sydney earlier this week but has spent several days getting to know his teammates with a running session and gym work at Sydney Swans HQ.

“It’s really impressive. All the Swans fans out there I’m not sure if they’ve had a chance to see it yet, from a player’s point of view it’s more than enough,” Grundy said.

The former South Australian was originally taken as Pick 18 in the 2012 draft, going on to be a two-time best and fairest winner and represented the All Stars in the 2020 State of Origin match.

It didn’t take long for Swans star Errol Gulden to take the 29-year-old through his paces.

“Errol Gulden was in there and we did a bit of a cross training session, the boys are looking in ripping nick,” Grundy said.

“I heard he’s at the top echelon of running, I’m not the worst, but I’d be eating his dust in Monday’s time trial.

Grundy joins the red and white alongside former Collingwood teammate Taylor Adams, who arrives with over 200 games of senior AFL football under his belt.

“It’s great to be here and meet all the boys. I’m really excited, it’s been a crazy couple of months, but I feel really settled here now and I’m looking forward to getting stuck into training,” Adams said.

“I want to put my head down and backside up and make sure I can make a difference up here.”

Adams was also signed by the Swans during the off-season trade period having previously played with the Giants and Collingwood.

“A fresh start is going to be good. I’m motivated to have a strong pre-season and keep my body healthy and train as much as I possibly can.
