THE past weekend for Brett was equivalent to when everyone else has a public holiday. Football players don’t get public holidays during the season so the split round is a bit like one… some time off from your day job.
No footy on the weekend?! What is a family to do?
We debated about ‘getting away’, Bryon Bay, the Goldie Gold Coast, the Sunshine Coast, go home to the Riverina or discover the winter magic at the Blue Mountains?! In the end we chose to apply the K.I.S.S Theory - Keep It Simple Stupid. We hung out at home… and it was nice.
Following are just some of the ways we applied our K.I.S.S Theory:
• Sunshine
• Walks to Coogee Beach & seeing whales
• Jumps on the trampoline
• Going to the park
• Running races
• Some very serious scooting
• Pizza Picnics
• Watching Narnia
• Playing shops
• Reading the paper
• Movies to see Shrek
• Sunday soup night with cousins
• Watching a whole DVD after the kids went to bed without interruption!
… Like I said, it was the simple things, and applying the K.I.S.S Theory was exactly what the doctor ordered. Even on Masterchef Jamie Oliver was throwing his support behind keeping things simple… I mean his ‘simple’ was all wrapped up in culinary terms with a lump of ricotta, a drizzle of honey and crushed coffee beans… three ingredients…simple.
While this weekend it’s back to work with the eyes set firmly on the prize, it might not be such a bad idea to apply the K.I.S.S Theory to playing Collingwood… I mean at the end of the day it’s not rocket science.
Cheer, cheer the red and the white!
