Jake Lloyd is confident he can take his football to another level as he comes off a career best season and prepares for his fifth season at AFL level.

The 24-year-old finished runner up in the 2017 Bob Skilton Medal finishing behind Luke Parker and equal second with superstar forward Lance Franklin.

He averaged 26 disposals playing across the half back line and wing during the season with his endurance and poise by foot a standout.

The consistency of Lloyd has been a hallmark of his career since he played his first game against Fremantle in 2014.

“In AFL football the challenges keep coming so that is my standard now,” Lloyd said.

“The challenge for me is to get better with each game and continue to improve.”

Lloyd could this year become the fastest player to reach 100 games if he can have a strong start to the season.

The Swans have been put through the grind this pre-season as they aim to be primed for the season opener against West Coast on March 25.

“Nothing has really changed, to be honest, guys have been modified a bit with their programs but that is normal,” Lloyd said.

“Last year hasn’t been spoken about, it’s a new year with a fresh start and so the guys are just looking forward to getting through AFLX.

“Hopefully we can take some good form out of that and into Round 1." 

The Swans officially kick off their pre-season on Saturday afternoon when they take to Allianz Stadium for the AFLX tournament.
