The Sydney Swans have one last official hit-out on Friday night, however, the Swans Reserves have a practice game next weekend and coach Paul Roos will be seeking AFL approval to play some of his underdone players.
“We have to get the AFL’s okay to play some of our players in the reserves next weekend and it will be based on game time,” Roos said at Wednesday’s press conference.
“So you won’t see players like Jude Bolton who have played three or four games, but instead it will be the guys with limited preparation who could be out there next week.
“Leo Barry, Tadhg Kennelly and maybe Barry Hall will play another game.
“There are also a couple coming back from injury, maybe Luke Ablett, Stephen Doyle and Adam Schneider.
“So there could be quite a few running around next week.”
Despite Schneider, Ablett and Doyle being in the mix to play with the reserves, Roos admits there is no chance of the trio being available for round one against West Coast.
“Snides has just come back from a hamstring (injury) so I don’t think we would pick him for round one but it is good he is back next week and he will play round one (for the reserves),” the coach added.
“Luke is just coming along slowly. He has just started training over the last couple of weeks, prior to that he was a bit stop start with his running.
“It would be good to have Noggy back but he won’t be available for round one either.
“Doyley puts himself in contention for probably round two, three or four, depending on how he goes.
“He hasn’t done a lot of football training but he doesn’t do that much each year so we will get him back playing as soon as we can and try and get his conditioning through playing.
“He would still be four or five weeks away from playing.”
