Geelong are back on the winners list ahead of a top four clash against the Sydney Swans at the SCG on Sunday afternoon.

Last weekend Geelong took on Richmond at home, and despite Richmond getting off to a flying start, the Cats slowly clawed back the lead to finish the game 30-point winners.

Geelong dominated the stats sheet with 6 players amassing 26 disposals or more, including Jack Bowes, Max Homes and Ollie Dempsey. Holmes & Bowes both collecting 29 touches and one goal apiece.

Tom Atkins also looked back to his best in a depleted Geelong midfield, while Tom Hawkins looked the best of the forwards booting 2 goals in an attack that will prove tough for the Swans to stop.

Last time these two sides met was round 16 at the SCG last season in what was an absolute thriller that turned out to be a draw.

The Swans were on top for most of the match, but inaccuracy in front of goal nearly cost them. A good performance from Gryan Miers (26 disposals & 2 goals) nearly willed the Cats over the line.

The Cats sit in 3rd place with an 8-4 record but come in as underdogs ahead of this clash, despite winning 5 of the last 8 (1 draw) against the Swans.

Cats midfielder Tom Atkins says he is looking forward to another battle with the ladder leading swans.

“We’ll be up for a fight, we know they’re a good, contested midfield,” Atkins said.

“They’ve got some players that are great to watch, Chad Warner is a really exciting player”

"We started to build some momentum in the second half against Richmond, we clicked along the line and we are looking forward to the challenge this week.”
