The final team for the Sydney Swans VFL side has been confirmed ahead of a Sunday morning clash with Geelong. The two sides will battle it out in a curtain raiser on the SCG in an exciting prelude to the main event.
Aaron Francis will return to the team after playing three crucial games in the AFL. His form will be a welcomed addition against Geelong who currently sit second on the VFL ladder. Will Edwards will also re-join the team after an infection sidelined the young up-and-comer.
Meanwhile, mid-season draftee Tom Hanily will play his first game in the red and white.
The team will feel the absence of young gun Angus Sheldrick who sustained an ankle injury in Round 9 against the Northern Bullants. He is expected to miss eight weeks of footy.
The Swans come off a bye and 15-day break after defeating the Bullants at Tramway Oval in their fourth win of the season. They have proved to play well on the hallowed SCG field, with an emphatic win over GWS in Round 6, and a draw against reigning premiers the Gold Coast Suns in Round 4.
Head coach Damian Truslove praised the work of his side in a post-match interview in Round 9, with the team needing to lift for a repeat performance.
“I think the key areas that we focused on pre-game, we ticked off," Truslove noted.
"Contested possession and tackling were both in the positive, which was really good.”
Joel Hamling and Phil Moi Moi will be two players to watch after kicking three goals each in their last match. QBE Sydney Swans Academy product Caiden Cleary was also strong and finished the game with a VFL career-high 39 disposals and a goal from outside 50 metres.
Head to Moore Park early on Sunday to catch all the action from 11:35am. Attendees will need to hold a valid AFL ticket to gain access.
