Senior coach John Longmire has confirmed his team for Round 24 as the Sydney Swans host the Adelaide Crows this Saturday night. Two changes have been made including the return of midfield gun Chad Warner.
The 23-year-old missed his first game of the season after suffering calf soreness ahead of Round 22. Speaking to Sydney Swans Media Longmire said the coaching staff took a "conservative approach" in resting him.
"He's done all the training this week and has been flat out. He's ready to go."
Robbie Fox has been named an emergency after suffering a low grade abdominal injury in Round 22 against Collingwood, while Tom McCartin has been pulled from the backline this week for a much-needed rest before September. In his place returns Aaron Francis.
Longmire is preparing for a strong Crows outfit on Saturday night, after the South Australian side provided upsets to the likes of Essendon and the Western Bulldogs in recent weeks. His message to player is to bring pressure to their gun forwards.
"They put enormous pressure on an around the ball," Longmire noted.
"We've got to be hard and clean and keep the ball out of their forward line because they've got some really gun forwards up there. They can take a mark and are good a ground level as well."
Round 24 coincides with the club's annual Member Thank You Round, an opportunity to celebrate our member's for their continued support and commitment. A fitting conclusion to the home-and-away season.
"We can't wait to play on Saturday night and have a good hit out in front of a big crowd again," he said of the SCG.
"It was awesome last time we were there."
Joel Amartey is set to play his 50th career game this weekend. The key forward made his debut in Round 17 of the 2020 season and has enjoyed his most consistent season to-date, playing 21 games, booting 37 majors and averages two tackles a game.
