The Sydney Swans have kicked off a strong 2024 campaign after securing a win over Collingwood last Friday, with three athletes earning coaches votes in the first week.

Co-captain Lucy McEvoy led the charge with a clinic in defence and ended the match with 17 disposals, four tackles and one goal. 2024 marks McEvoy's second year with the club after moving from Carlton. She's expected to hit 50 career games later this season.

Laura Gardiner once again impressed in the midfield with quick ball movement and important pressure. The 2023 AFLW Club Champion had a team-high 23 disposals and landed eight tackles, earning four votes to start the season.

To close out Round 1 young midfielder Sofia Hurley secured one vote. The 20-year-old continued last year's form (she took out the Sydney Swans AFLW Rising Star award) with 15 disposals and seven disposals.
