After a season-opening 15-point victory over Collingwood last week, the Sydney Swans AFLW side will head to Melbourne for their first travel game of the season when they face St Kilda.

Assistant coach Tanya Hetherington says the side will head into Round 2 with plenty of confidence, but won't be underestimating their opponents.

Here she discusses preparations ahead of the match.

Congratulations on the Round 1 win. What impressed you about the team’s performance last Friday night?

I think the ability to get the game on our terms in the third term and then really put the foot down once we had that momentum was really impressive.

The scores were level at half-time. What was the message to players that lead to a massive third quarter?

Scott talks about the process over the outcome, so the message was to continue to have belief in our system and to play our way and eventually the tide would turn which it did.

We had two AFLW debutants in Kiara Hiller and Sarah Grunden? How did they perform?

I think for both players it was great for them to get their first games under their belt.

They both bring different strengths to the table and they were on show during the game, Kiara with her run and carry and Sarah with her elite ball use and vision.

How much confidence does the win bring ahead of a clash with St. Kilda on Sunday?

Anytime you get the win and the four-points brings an air of confidence to the team which will be needed coming up against an impressive side in St Kilda.

Both teams will be feeling confident in their systems which should make for an entertaining game!

If you were to describe the Swans brand of footy in three words, what would they be?
