GWS head to the SCG this Saturday afternoon for a blockbuster qualifying final against cross-town rivals the Sydney Swans.

The sides have met twice already this season with the Swans holding a 2-0 win-loss record, but the Giants have the better of the ledger in finals having won all three against the Swans.

The Giants form in the last half of the season was exceptional, losing just one game in the last two months - against the Western Bulldogs in Round 24. The Swans have recovered from their slump by winning their last three matches, including a 31-point victory over the Adelaide Crows in their final home-and-away match.

The Giants welcome back Brent Daniels (back) for the clash while Lachie Ash comes in after serving a one-game suspension, and wingman Isaac Cumming returns.

For the Swans, Tom Papley (ankle) and Justin McInerney (knee) have been named the side after their layoffs, while Isaac Heeney and Tom McCartin return after being managed against the Crows.

As mentioned, these two sides have met twice this season, but the most recent encounter was at ENGIE Stadium, and it was the visiting Swans who prevailed by 27 points.

On that occasion Errol Gulden gathered 41 disposals and kicked a goal for Sydney, while James Rowbottom was outstanding with 32 touches. For the Giants Tom Green was the pick of the bunch with 35 disposals.

Giants coach Adam Kingsley said he’s looking forward to the challenge of taking on the Swans.

“We haven't got it right against the Swans the last two (games)," Kingsley said.

"The Swans midfield is basically the All-Australian midfield, so it's going to be an enormous challenge. We're aware of that.

"We'll embrace that challenge. We'll attack it, and if we're good enough we'll come out on top."

"Recent history would suggest the Swans are a far better team than us, and they've beaten us twice this year.

"They're clearly the best team in the competition. They finished on top of the ladder miles in front percentage-wise, which is a telltale sign they're the best team in the league.

"So it's a tough game for us, we're fully aware of that.

"We're going to have a crack like we do in every game, but we know it's going to be a tough ask to beat them, particularly in front of their home crowd, so we don't really draw on history.
