On how the team pulled up after Saturday’s match

“It was actually a big running game for us as well, so when you're chasing you tend to run a little bit more. But we've pulled up pretty well. The team had a really good review, great reflection and still learning, I suppose, to play without a few of our superstars. But that's just part of footy and we've just got to adapt.”

On the Round 3 loss

“We had to get a better start and Richmond approached it with wanting to get a good start and they got the momentum. It was our inability to hold that until the break. Once we reset from the break, I thought quarters two, three and four were pretty even. At the end of the fourth, they got away again.

“Which is a good thing that we responded and ran the game out, but of course you need to be able to stop momentum swings earlier than that and that was the big part of the review.”

On Montana Ham’s performance

“The next step for her now is to make that consistent. The weekend was, I felt, her first game where she's put in a four-quarter effort and been able to play a couple of different roles within the game. Mon has always played one role fairly well but then when she shifts to her secondary role she tends to have a few lapses. But you've got to remember she's still very young and she's learning the game and I think on the back of the weekend I'm hoping that that's her benchmark game and she can go on from there."

On Alana Woodward’s ACL injury

“Alana has decided that she wants to push through so we'll put her back into training and modify it and then she'll do a range of testing to make sure that she can change her direction and make sure that she can get herself right and then she'll be up for selection. She's aware that it could go south but she's a resilient person and wants to push through and we're fully supportive of that for her.”

On Cynthia Hamilton

“She'll go back into full training this week and see how she goes. It was good because she put her hand up, rather than us noticing anything, and it was just an awareness. We did some tests and it's all good, but you just don't want to take any risks and get a long-term injury from that. With the condensed part of the fixture now, she was part of the plan anyway for rest. Now that she's had the week off, we'll decide what we do this week and see if we can get her through three games quickly.”

On Ally Morphett

“Similar thing. She was managed for the condensed part of the fixture as well. She hasn't done any pre-season other than the rehab so it's really important that we manage her properly. She'll be up for selection this week and then she'll probably get through two of the next three games.”

On Round 4 against GWS

“They've done very well this year. It's us chasing them this year, which is good for us. We love playing in these games and respect what they've done this year. We'll be able to fill Henson Park, a neutral territory… It's a critical game for both sides to establish ourselves into the season.”

On their performance

“I think they take on the corridor and play really fast footy - use their hands well. The metre's gained is very good and they're able to get momentum and then keep that momentum and score from it, which is important.

“Defensively, they've copped a few injuries, but I liked watching when they were able to plug holes last week. I think that's a sign of a good side.”
