Sydney Swans fan-favourite Harry Cunningham has signed a two-year contract extension, keeping him in the red and white until at least the end of 2026.

The New South Wales product has played 206 AFL games over a career spanning 13 seasons, after originally being taken in the 2011 rookie draft. Cunningham made his debut in the inaugural Sydney Derby against GWS in 2012.

The 30-year-old is regarded as one of the most resilient and underrated players in the AFL. He has previously been crowned as Sydney’s Best Clubman (2018) and the Swans’ Rising Star (2014).

Cunningham’s contribution to the game isn’t just on-field, having been named as a finalist three times for the Jim Stynes Community Leadership Award for his long-term commitment to Redkite, which supports children with cancer and their families.

Cunningham said he’s excited about what the next two years hold.

“It’s well known the club took a punt on me all those years ago, so I’m pleased to have repaid the faith over a long period of time. To sign on for another two seasons is fantastic,” Cunningham said.

“We have a young and exciting list, I feel that we are on the right track for success, and I want to be here as we continue to look for that.

“It’s an exciting time to be part of the club and I’m happy to be here for at least another two seasons”

Sydney Swans Executive General Manager – Football, Leon Cameron, said the club is thrilled to have Cunningham remain with the club.

“Harry has been a crucial member of our playing group for more than a decade, consistently going up against some of the best forwards in the game,” Cameron said.

“More importantly, Harry is one of the most respected and popular players at our club. He leads by example both on and off the field and continues to set elite standards.

“We’re extremely pleased Harry is going to be with us for the next two seasons.”
