The Sydney Swans AFLW side is preparing for a massive week - playing three games in 10 days. See what assistant coach Tanya Hetherington had to say on last week's win over GWS and how the team will be managed ahead of Friday night.
Back in the winner’s circle after Round 4. What impressed you in last week’s match?
I think the most pleasing aspect was seeing our ball movement come back. We looked more like us and I think this was evident to see especially in the first half.
After a quick start, the team fell away on the scoreboard until the final quarter. What was the change that sparked that?
Simply getting back to our pressure which kickstarts everything for us. This dropped away in the third but we were able to get it back to start the fourth from which we were able to generate some scores off the back of that.
How much energy does a crowd like what we had at Henson Park give the side?
It’s incredible the amount of energy a crowd like that gives the team. We are so lucky to have such wonderful support and I’m sure the crowd being full of voice gives the players an extra lift when they are out there.
We head to Melbourne for two matches in six days. What considerations must be made for this kind of split fixture?
it’s really important to try and look after our list from a load management perspective, especially being such a young group. We won’t be taking any risks with anyone that’s for sure.
What have you made of the Western Bulldogs’ season so far?
The Western bulldogs have been playing some great football of late. They are full of youthful enthusiasm and we expect their best when we face them on Friday.
