AFLW senior coach Scott Gowans has confirmed an extended bench ahead of Sunday's Pride Game against Geelong.

After two games on the road the Sydney Swans return home to Henson Park this weekend for their final match in the compressed round.

After an exciting win over GWS in Round 4, the team travelled to Mission Whitten Oval in Melbourne for a Friday night match against the Western Bulldogs, falling short in the dying minutes, before another close clash with Essendon on Wednesday night.

In last night's press conference Gowans said that while it felt like a missed opportunity, the coaching staff were proud of their efforts.

"We've come a long way in the last few weeks with competing which was an issue a few weeks ago without the footy IQ on the field," he said.

"They did things on the field tonight that showed they're on that journey. We did a lot of things right tonight but early on in the game we took a while to play a way that could give us the best chance to beat Essendon."

Bella Smith, Booke Lochland, Maddy Collier, Brenna Tarrant and Gisele Davies were the five ins last week and remain in this week's squad. Meanwhile, Montana Ham who was managed during the week has not been named on the extended bench.

The final team will be named on Friday at 5:00pm in preparation for the Sunday match.
