After almost two decades of service to the club Natalie Fagg was inducted as a Life Member of the Sydney Swans in August.
The Executive General Manager – Customer has spent just one year outside of red and white colours since her career began in the membership team in 2004.
Speaking to Sydney Swans Media three months on, Fagg says she’s still lost for words at the honour.
“When Dean Moore congratulated me, he said, ‘It means you’re a member for life.’ Which is pretty incredible.”
Life membership is awarded to staff members after 15 years of consecutive service.
The Swans executive admits that her journey began with an application for a different role, however she was unsuccessful in that instance. Later, she was given an opportunity in the membership and customer relationship management team.
“I had an interview about the membership role which I had an hour’s notice for. I started in membership support and progressed from there.”
After four years at the Swans, Fagg left the club to pursue a different opportunity. But the pull of the red and white remained strong and 12 months later “the stars aligned” and she returned to work in membership and fan engagement.
“I’m most proud of how much growth we’ve had in the membership family,” Fagg reflected.
“At the time we had 25,000 members, which was brilliant. To end up with what we did this year with more than 75,000 members is quite an extraordinary growth spurt for the club.”
As the club enters its 151st year – and 20th anniversary since the 2005 premiership – Fagg says she’s most looking forward to seeing even more historic moments from the elite programs.
“I’m excited to get back to the SCG next year – the season we had in 2024 was incredible with huge crowds and a terrific atmosphere at our games.”
She added, “I’m also excited to watch our AFLW team continue to grow, as they have been a wonderful addition to our football club.”
