The Sydney Swans will travel to Melbourne on Monday ahead of the 2024 Telstra AFLW Draft holding six picks as the club looks to bolster the squad with young talent ahead of the 2025 season.

The 2024 Telstra AFLW Draft will take place on Monday, December 16 from 7:00pm AEDT in the league's first ever fully national draft, with all nominees available to be selected by any of the 18 clubs - regardless of their home state.

The Sydney Swans hold pick 4, 56, 59, 61 as of Monday morning.

Each club must make two selections in the draft.

The evening can be live streamed on afl.com.au and the AFL Live App. Keep up-to-date with all the draft news on the Sydney Swans AFLW Instagram, Facebook and X

After a busy week at the trade table, a key member of the Swans recruiting team, AFLW Analyst Phoebe Carter said the team are looking forward to welcoming new and exciting talent on Monday night.

"We are really excited to take pick 4 into Monday night," Carter said.

"We have done a lot of work with that and we are really confident in what we have done. AFLW is in a great position with a stacked top end of the draft this year, and it is only getting better each year.

"Lower down the draft order we will work with some different scenarios that may be presented to us. We didn’t gain any key position players in the trade period so we have taken that into account going into Monday night.

"We have seen great success in having Holly Cooper come through the QBE Sydney Swans Academy system last year and playing multiple games of AFLW so we really respect the athletes coming through and the work of the QBE Swans Academy."

Trade Recap

The 2024 Telstra AFLW Draft comes off the back of a particularly busy trade period with five new athletes set to don the red and white next year. Meanwhile, the club farewelled Montana Beruldsen (Richmond), Bella Smith (Fremantle) and Ella Heads (Port Adelaide).

The 2024 AFLW Trade Period kicked off as the club acquired Geelong midfielder and forward Darcy Moloney in exchange for pick 22 in this year's draft. The 22-year old has played 46 games for the Cats since her debut in 2021.

The club followed by signing the versatile Jasmine Grierson as a delisted free agent. She was drafted to Melbourne in the 2016 AFLW Draft and has gone on to play 61 AFLW games for Melbourne, North Melbourne and GWS in a career spanning nine seasons.

The Swans then agreed to a trade with Richmond including forward Montana Beruldsen for midfielder and QBE Sydney Swans Academy graduate Imogen Brown. While Brown is yet to debut at AFLW level she played in the Swans' inaugural VFLW season, averaging 13.5 disposals per game.

Foundation player Bella Smith departed the club this week after securing a trade with Fremantle, receiving pick 49 in return for the forward. Prolific defender Ella Heads was also farewelled from the Swans after a four-club trade on Wednesday. The club received Essendon defender Ash Van Loon and draft pick 51.

Capping off the Swans' trade period was a deadline deal with North Melbourne. The club secured experienced utility Lulu Pullar in exchange for picks 49 and 51.
