The Sydney Swans have introduced their first ever joint AFL and AFLW parent induction day. On Monday, February 17 families were brought together at Sydney Swans HQ to welcome athletes ahead of the 2025 season.

Each program held information sessions to kick off the day, providing families with insight into the club’s high-performance training schedule and standards.

Lindsey Byrne, AFLW Player development manager, highlighted the important of connecting families to the club’s culture.

“We want to give parents a real overview of what the club is about” she shared.

“Running both programs together allows families to mingle, share experiences, and learn how the club operates.”

Vince Dattoli, father of draftee Jesse Dattoli, shared insight into the day’s proceedings.

“We had a quick coffee with all the families, then met some players in the lounge area,” Dattoli said.

“We were then fortunate enough to hear Coxy’s little spiel before training and had a look at a few edits to understand what the clubs been up to. It’s been great”.

The day wrapped with the 2025 AFL Guernsey presentation night, an opportunity to launch the season ahead.

Sydney Swans Chairman Andrew Pridham reflected on the significance of the event.

“Our job is to provide the facilities and give the players the best opportunities to succeed and become the best versions of themself as people and as footballers.

He continued, “But a big part of that is making sure their families come along the journeys with them and really enjoy the experience”.
