Jake Lloyd has found himself among Sydney Swans royalty after a career-best 42 possessions in Sunday’s win over West Coast.

Lloyd started the match as one of 16 Swans players to have had 40 or more possessions in a game since the AFL started keeping game-by-game possession counts in 1965. He finished the match as just one of eight Swans players to have done so twice or more.

It is an honour roll headed by Dan Hannebery, who topped 40 possessions in a game seven times, and Josh Kennedy and Barry Mitchell, each with six 40+ games.

Greg Williams and Bob Skilton each had three, while Stevie Wright, Tom Mitchell and now Lloyd have had two.

Swans players who have topped 40 possessions just once in red and white have been Paul Kelly, Jarrad McVeigh, Jude Bolton, Brett Kirk, Ryan O’Keefe, Luke Parker and Greg Smith.

Lloyd’s 42 possessions against West Coast on Sunday bettered his previous best of 41 against Fremantle at the SCG in Round 9 last year.

Greg Williams holds the club record at 53 possessions among 40 games of 40 possessions or more in club history since the inception of statistics in 1965.

Bob Skilton, who only played the last 98 games of his career under full statistics, and Barry Mitchell each had 46-possession games.
