Luke Parker has stamped his outstanding first season as a Sydney Swans co-captain with a club-high 16 votes in the Brownlow Medal count.

On a special Monday night at Melbourne’s Crown Palladium, the star midfielder finished equal 16th with Port Adelaide’s Travis Boak and Essendon’s Zach Merrett.

Parker polled three votes against Essendon in Round 8, Hawthorn in Round 14 and the Gold Coast Suns in Round 15, while he was also deemed among the best on five other occasions.

The All Australian eclipsed fellow co-captain Josh Kennedy (nine votes) and young star Isaac Heeney (six), with Oliver Florent and Tom Papley rounding out the top five.
