Luke Parker has stamped his outstanding first season as a Sydney Swans co-captain with a club-high 16 votes in the Brownlow Medal count.
On a special Monday night at Melbourne’s Crown Palladium, the star midfielder finished equal 16th with Port Adelaide’s Travis Boak and Essendon’s Zach Merrett.
Parker polled three votes against Essendon in Round 8, Hawthorn in Round 14 and the Gold Coast Suns in Round 15, while he was also deemed among the best on five other occasions.
The All Australian eclipsed fellow co-captain Josh Kennedy (nine votes) and young star Isaac Heeney (six), with Oliver Florent and Tom Papley rounding out the top five.
Papley polled the first Brownlow vote of his career against North Melbourne in Round 9 and Jordan Dawson followed against the Gold Coast Suns in Round 15.
Fremantle skipper Nat Fyfe polled 33 votes to become just the 15th player in VFL/AFL history to have won the Brownlow Medal twice.
