Callum Mills is open to playing wherever called upon by the coach as the season opener against the Western Bulldogs on Saturday night.
The defender has spent the summer training as a midfielder and spent the majority of his two JLT Community Series games up the ground, but his value to the team across half back is enormous.
The 2016 NAB AFL Rising Star winner said he's still not certain where he will start the game on Saturday night, but he's been excited to play as an onballer over the pre-season alongside the Swans' biggest names.
"It was awesome to learn from guys like 'Joey' (Josh Kennedy), 'Parks' (Luke Parker) and Isaac (Heeney), and they were really helpful with my development," he said.
"We've also got Dean Cox and Brett Kirk as our midfield coaches and they were two pretty handy players in their time, so to learn off them too was awesome.
"I told 'Horse' (Longmire) the other day that I don't mind where I play as long as I'm influential for the team.
"To me it doesn't matter if its midfield, back or forward, as long as I can contribute, that’s the best result for the team.
Another strong training session has Sydney superstar Lance Franklin firming to be fit for Saturday night's season opener against the Western Bulldogs.
Franklin hit the track at the SCG with the rest of the Swans' squad on Tuesday morning in another attempt to show senior coach John Longmire and the club's medical staff that he's ready to face the Dogs after recovering from groin surgery in November.
The West Australian has made rapid progress in his recovery over the past month, but questions remain over his ability to get through a senior game, and back up to play Adelaide off a six-day break in round two.
Longmire spoke about his gun forward's prospects on Monday and said that Franklin's season was far more important than one game.
The side will be finalised on Thursday, and teammate Callum Mills said he's just as interested to see if Franklin will be on the plane to Melbourne as everybody else.
"He trained well (on Tuesday) so we have to wait until Thursday to see how he goes then," he said.
"It's then up to the coaches and 'Buddy' and the medical staff (to make the decision), I'm not too sure (if he'll play) to be honest."
