Former Australian Prime Minister and the Sydney Swans’ 1982 Number One Ticketholder, Bob Hawke, has passed away peacefully aged 89.
Mr Hawke served as the Swans’ Number One Ticketholder in the Club’s first year in Sydney, before then leading the Labor Party as Prime Minister in the years spanning 1983-1991.
Mr Hawke was Australia’s 23rd Prime Minister and remains the Labor Party’s longest-serving leader.
He was also a Rhodes Scholar and served as president of the Australian Council of Trade Unions (ACTU) from 1969-1980.
The Sydney Swans Football Club would like to pass on its most sincere condolences to Mr Hawke’s surviving family: wife Blanche d’Alpuget and children Susan, Stephen and Rosslyn.
