Three changes and a debut feature in a 22-man Sydney Swans team to face the Geelong Cats at GMHBA Stadium on Saturday.
Forward Ben Ronke will make his senior debut in the Round 6 match, while fellow forward Dan Robinson and defender Robbie Fox also come in.
Coach John Longmire said Ronke’s debut was highly deserved.
“He’s been working hard coming off our Rookie list and working really strongly as a small pressure forward,” Longmire said.
“He had a lot of injuries and didn’t get a good look at it but has had a good pre-season this year and his form has been really strong in the reserves, so it’s good to have him in the team.”
Ronke signed with the Swans at the 2017 Rookie Draft and honed his trade in the NEAFL last season as Sydney powered through to the grand final.
Lance Franklin (heel), Dan Hannebery (groin) and Dean Towers (eye) are the three omissions for the Cats clash.
Franklin and Hannebery were ruled out earlier in the week and Towers on Thursday.
Towers has suffered an eye injury and Longmire said it was important he was given time to recover.
“Unfortunately, he got a poke in the eye today,” Longmire said.
“Whilst he’s feeling okay, the bleeding in the eye means if he was to play this week he’d be putting his eye at risk and clearly we don’t want to do that.”
