Sydney Swans superstar Lance Franklin has been cleared to play against Brisbane on Saturday afternoon.
Match Review Officer Michael Christian cleared the star forward of contact made with Fremantle defender Joel Hamling during Saturday night's win at the SCG.
Christian assessed contact between Franklin and Hamling during the second quarter.
The ball has come loose after an attempted handball from Sydney’s Gary Rohan. Franklin runs towards the ball to take possession and takes possession with his left hand.
The Sydney player is immediately tackled by Fremantle’s Ryan Nyhuis and is also confronted by Hamling, who attempts to tackle as well. Franklin firstly attempts to fend off Hamling with his right hand, before shrugging his left arm, which is holding the ball, in a bid to break the tackle of the two Fremantle players.
High contact is made to Hamling, as Franklin seeks to break clear, and the Sydney player releases a handball to his teammate under pressure.
It was the view of the Match Review Officer that Franklin was seeking to evade the tackle and his actions while in possession of the ball were not unreasonable in the circumstances.
No further action was taken.
