Star Sydney forward Lance Franklin is set to celebrate his 300th game in a blockbuster Friday night clash with Collingwood in Marn Grook at the SCG, with the match also scheduled to kick-start the AFL's annual Sir Doug Nicholls Round.
Franklin, one of the game's most celebrated Indigenous players, currently sits on 290 matches, with the Swans fixtured to host the Magpies in the annual Marn Grook match in Round 10.
The game, which is due to coincide with Franklin's milestone, will open the two-week Sir Doug Nicholls Round, which celebrates the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and the contribution of Indigenous footballers to the game.
It will also continue Sydney's tradition of hosting the Marn Grook match, with the Swans having done so every year since 2002.
The 2019 season is set to be a significant one for Franklin, who needs just 10 more goals to surpass Essendon great Matthew Lloyd and move to seventh on the all-time list of career VFL/AFL goals.
The 31-year-old also remains on track to become just the sixth player in the game's history to kick 1000 career goals, needing a further 83 majors to reach the historic landmark.
Franklin, the reigning All-Australian captain, is a two-time premiership player and four-time Coleman Medal winner.
He played 182 games for Hawthorn, while he currently sits on 108 matches with Sydney.
Franklin is one of six players who mathematically could play their 300th match in 2019, with Eddie Betts (295 games), David Mundy (294), Heath Shaw (282), Scott Pendlebury (277) and Jarryd Roughead (275) also chances.
