Traditional sport and esports are coming together in a new technology partnership that’s set to deliver audio innovation to the Sydney Swans.
HyperX is partnering with both the Sydney Swans and the Esports High Performance Centre based at Moore Park, providing headsets to both parties to improve communication across training and game day.
Established in 2002, HyperX is the high-performance product division of Kingston Technology, the world’s largest independent memory manufacturer. The company partners with some of the largest and most successful gaming teams and sporting programs across the globe.
Sydney Swans Head of Strategy and Commercial Grant Rose said it’s an opportunity to work with two organisations leading the way in technology.
“We’re excited to partner with HyperX to integrate their products into our programs,” Rose said.
“This is one of the first major partnerships to sit across both traditional sport and esports, and it gives us the opportunity to work more closely with the Esports High Performance Centre across commercial and training practices.
“There are certainly similarities in the work we both put in behind the scenes to deliver on our respective programs – and access to technology plays a large part in that.”
HyperX Marketing Director APAC Region Susan Yang said it’s an exciting time for the industry.
“We’re excited to be the first gaming accessories company to partner with AFL team. Traditional sports like AFL have long history and solid support from enthusiastic fans, and as esports is catching up quickly, we do see the trend of both sports converging and growing together,” Yang said.
“With the cutting-edge technology and top performance peripherals, the alliance of HyperX and EHPC will help local talent elevate their performance to the next level. The HyperX tagline is We’re All Gamer, and we look forward to spreading the fun of game to fans across fields. Whether you are a gamer or a professional athlete, you are part of the HyperX family.”
Esports High Performance Centre Chief Operating Officer Chris White said the partnership brings together three organisations with a passion for technology.
“Combining the best in technology with sports science to drive elite performance is what we do at the Esports High Performance Centre and it is exactly why this partnership makes sense,” White said.
“The Sydney Swans are the epitome of professionalism across all areas of their business and HyperX is the best in class headset for anyone wanting to perform at the highest level in the esports arena.
“The synergy between HyperX, Sydney Swans and the Esports High Performance Centre is undeniable and the exciting links we can create through this partnership moving forward will be something to keep your eye on.”
