Kieren Jack and Aliir Aliir will return for the Sydney Swans in a blockbuster clash with the West Coast Eagles at the SCG on Friday night.

Jack will return from a one-game break and Aliir will play his second match of the season, while Jarrad McVeigh (calf) and Daniel Robinson (omitted) will miss the game.

Jack missed Sydney’s clash with St Kilda last Saturday and Longmire said the break had served him well.

“He was a bit similar to Tommy Papley the week before,” Longmire said.

“They just needed to get over some niggles and Kieren had a bit of a sore hip. But he’s come back and trained really well this week so he’s ready to go.”

Aliir faced the Western Bulldogs in Round 4 and Longmire said his addition would bring plenty in the match with West Coast.

“He can play a number of different roles for us,” Longmire said.

“He can play down back, in the ruck or forward and he could be used in all those roles.

“His form over the last couple of weeks has been really strong and we understand the Eagles have got some height right throughout the ground so it’s great to have him back in the team.”

McVeigh has played every game this season and has been in impressive touch in his 15th AFL season.

Longmire said he was due for time off after emerging from the St Kilda match with a sore calf.

“His calf pulled up a little bit tight from last week,” Longmire said.

“He hasn’t torn it which is a good sign, but the six-day break just meant he was probably a day or so short.

“It would have been good for him to train but he was unable to train or didn’t want to take that risk given his history. We’re really confident he’ll be fine.”
