The Sydney Swans have welcomed back some experience as well as an exciting young forward for Thursday night’s clash with Richmond.
Veteran Jarrad McVeigh returns to the side after being given a week off against West Coast and James Rose has been named for his first senior match of the season.
Tom Papley (hip) and Harrison Marsh (omitted) make way for the pair.
Coach John Longmire said it was pleasing to be able to add the experience of McVeigh into the line up.
“Jarrad obviously didn’t play last game against West Coast but he has pulled up really well,” Longmire said.
“He was training today and looked good.”
Rose has played eight AFL games since making his debut in 2015 but has not managed to play at senior level this season.
“James gets an opportunity after a few weeks of really solid form in our reserves,” Longmire said.
“We know that he can hit the scoreboard but also help with goal assists and put pressure on in our forward line.”
“He has had some really solid weeks in our NEAFL side so it is good to give him the opportunity.”
