This Sydney Swans will this week join in celebrating NAIDOC week by recognising the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
Events have taken place all over Australia to celebrate including the annual AFL NSW/ACT NAIDOC Cup held in Blacktown last week. Over 100 students took part in an AFL 9’s round-robin style tournament which acts as a fantastic opportunity for Indigenous Academy partner high schools to come together.
In conjunction with NAIDOC week, the club is also proud to celebrate one year since the launch of the second Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP).
The RAP was launched in June last year to celebrate the wonderful contribution to the club made by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
The Club’s vision is to be a leader in promoting equality and justice for the First Australians.
The three key pillars of the second RAP are respect, relationships and opportunities, and the club proudly upholds its dedication to strengthening relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
